This is how far I’ve gone this morning. I’m not even done yet. I stopped to eat lunch in Rifle, and I’m about to head back over the mountains to unload. It’s my second trip to the Western Slope this week.
Where has Oppo traveled to this week?

I did about 850ish miles over the weekend if that counts? that was to North Wales, then Newcastle and back down to home in the south west

I’ve been doing 270 miles between Baton Rouge and Houston, twice a week, almost every week since the first week of February. It’s getting old.

I think my furthest trip this week was to go to my parents’ place. It’s about 36km round-trip.
However, the longest duration for a trip this week was simply getting to Costco, where a section of road which was about 2.5km took about half an hour to get through because of one broken traffic light at a major intersection. It was worth it to get bacon for a lifetime (I live alone and this shit comes in four 500g packages (so over 1lb/pack) along with ice cream for weeks.
My parents live further outside of the city so it’s nice to open up the throttle a bit on those empty, open roads. They’re also really new and smooth whereas most streets around here are totally fucked by potholes or poorly placed/maintained/installed sewer grates and manholes.

I drive 198 miles one way to Nashville each week for work. Two weeks ago I made the trip twice and then did some driving on the weekend. My total was 936 miles for the week. I usually average 500-600 miles per week total. My Camry is boring but it’s a road warrior.

10 Miles to my cardiologist. I’m supposed to be taking it easy until my stress test.

That is brutal. It is so annoying getting stuck at the bridge into Baton Rouge, and then all the slow people in between the trip.

The worst spot now is east of Beaumont. Construction has I-10 down to a single lane. When I got there last week, someone failed to realize everyone was stopping and plowed into the back of someone else. That wreck shut down the freeway. The five hour drive turned into an eight hour drive.

That sucks. I’ve only had to drive to Baton Rouge and back once last year and once this year. I’d explode if the drive became that long.

The longest trip was probably only 40 miles, but I’ve been in the car a total of 27 hrs this week.

Beige cars are made for road trips. My Optima is a nice place to burn the miles up.

Tractor trailer, I assume?
I managed 17.6 on the way up with an empty van, and 16.2 on the way back with about 3000 lbs. on board. This was all on I-70 over the Continental divide, so pretty good for a cargo van.

Well, we’re not sure. We anticipate the program to last at least a couple of years. If my kids weren’t doing so well in such great schools, I’d just relocate my family. My daughter is just a sophomore and her ACT & SAT scores were high enough that she’s receiving recruiting letters from Ivy league schools. Now she’s talking about going into the Yale Biomedical Science program (she was talking about engineering, go figure).
My son qualified for an early start program at the high school he will attend next year. He loves the school and doesn’t want to leave it.
So, unless I can find another job back in Baton Rouge that pays as well as my current job, I’m stuck traveling for a while. At least it comes with hardship pay (10% salary increase), the company takes care of all my expenses, and I get to go home every weekend.

Yeah, and with the long-term car rental, I qualify for upgrades. That’s why my current rental is a Challenger. I’m also now a Platinum member with my hotel - access to exclusive floors, special vacation offers, free nights... the perks for frequent travelers are nice.

The continental divide was one of the prettiest sights I’ve ever personally seen. So gorgeous out there. Yeah I’m regional dedicated in my good ole trusty Freightliner.

Stuck in NYC this week, but went to Colorado last week. Drove between Grand Junction and Boulder 3 times in a rental Nissan Rogue. The CVT was awful but at the very least, it was fun to go WOT up a slope and see it not really do anything.

That would not be my first choice to go over the bump for sure. The van does well most of the time, but it definitely was breathing heavy on the way back with 3000 lbs on board.
